The Hampshire’s

I was called in by Mr Hillbert of ‘C D Hillbert Construction’ to take a look at a concrete floor that was going to need screeding in the extension they had constructed in Rotherham for Mr & Mrs Hampshire.

Mr Hillberts concern was the depth of the screed, because it had to marry in with the existing floor of the kitchen.

After my inspection of the floor to be screeded, I advised that because the screed would be a little below the 50mm recommended minimum depth, the concrete subfloor be treated with SBR (Styrene butadiene co-polymer), SBR helps adhesion and toughens the screed when laid. The concrete was prepared with SBR and also added to the floor screed, the result has been a strong tough floor now ready for whatever finish Mr & Mrs Hampshire are going to apply.
